About Us
SUP BC was formed by a group of representatives from various aspects of the SUP Community. Within the society we have representation from Elite Athletes, Retailers, Distributors, Reps, Race Organizers and Recreational Racers. We also are open to feedback, ideas and suggestions from anyone within the SUP Community.
The SUP BC Society is made up of:
- Mike Darbyshire
- Kevin O’Brien
- Gary Parsons
- Nikki Rekman
- Stuart Robinson
- Lina Augaitis
Additional feedback and consultation with:
- Catherine Salinas
- Taylor Fulde
- Norm Hann
- Jason Lexa
By supporting a selection of events within the province we hope to provide a level of consistency and organization at each of the events.
The events are chosen each season based on a variety of criteria including but not limited to:
- Location distribution throughout the province
- Historical success of previous events
- Sport growth in new areas of the province
- Dedicated race organizers
- Unique locations that represent the variety within BC

Im in sask but talked to west jetand it is pretty resonable to fly it out with me just worried about it being cared for during bthe travel. Oh and what local sup shop should I contact if i want to rent. Thanks Mike
Hi Mike,
Get in touch with the guys at Deep Cove Kayak… They’re the ones organizing the race and they should have some rentals available as well.

Hello
We are a small but spectacular community on the Sunshine Coast one hour past Gibsons BC. On July 10 to 12, 2015, we are hosting PENDER HARBOUR DAYS, which will feature visiting heritage and new boats, heritage events, and WATER SPORTS! This initiative is sponsored by the local Chamber of Commerce and the Pender Harbour Living Heritage Society, and the whole community is getting behind this festival.
We have a spectacular salt water venue for water sports, with over 60 km of protected water ways, often referred to as “The Venice of the North”. See photo attached.
We want to develop SUP racing (as well as kayak, etc.) in our area as we think we have a spectacular venue for such an event. Having found your web page and your organizations obvious expertise in the sport, would it be possible to speak with someone regarding such an event? We are at the planning stage, want to get it right, and the best way is to talk to the professionals.
Would you have time to discuss with us?
Many thanks

I’m going to be in Fort Langley in August. How is the Fraser River there for SUP?
Hey! Looking for some unique mid level places to SUP this summer in southern BC. Any suggestions?
I wonder if there is a B.C or Canadian list of up and coming races. I have been trying to find a list but it appears those list are USA,UK and other races abroad. Would love to get into racing closer to home to start. Thank you
