Is anyone else using Meetup.com to develop SUP communities in their local areas?

I live in the Toronto Beaches, and while there are a lot of paddlers, many are taking their first

lesson, or are tourists from out of town, just renting a board for an hour. I got tired of paddling

the same stretch of water by myself, so I created a Meetup Group in my local area. In one week

ten people have joined the group. I scheduled our first outing for Friday August 17th at 6:30.

Hopefully some new blood will bring some new places to paddle, new tips and techniques.

Just wanted to share this and see what others are doing to find paddle-buddies.
