Madeline Leblanc’s On Board

In 2012, Maddi Leblanc lost two people very close to her from cancer, and she wanted to take action. Julia Turner was a high school friend and Lynn Lambert was a neighbour and high school teacher at Centennial high school.  In 2012 Maddi bought her first stand up paddle board and has loved paddling even since, enjoying the canal and the fantastic facilities that Welland has to offer.

In an effort to give back, Maddi has partnered with the Canadian Cancer society, Ausmosis Board Works, and the City of Welland to paddle 10km down the Welland Canal to raise funds that are going towards brain cancer research (because Julia suffered from a brain tumor). This event is called ‘On Board’, please visit the Facebook page for details: https://www.facebook.com/maddisrideonboard

Maddi will be paddling on Thursday, July 10th at 2:00 pm. The starting point will be the Welland International Flatwater Center and the turnaround point will be the Pen Financial Flatwater Community Center. Maddi will be selling ‘On Board’ t-shirts, includuing a purple bow on the sleeve in honour of Julia.  Consider heading out on July 10th to cheer Maddi on and click here to donate securely online to the cause.  Let’s show Canada what a small town can do!
