Stand Up Paddleboard Lessons in Canada
|Lately we’ve been receiving a ton of requests from people asking about where to take their first stand up paddleboard lesson, so I figured it’d be easiest to just put a quick post together to list all of the places I know if Canada that offer SUP lessons.
I’ll admit the list is pretty short right now, but if the growth we’ve seen over the past is any indication of SUP’s future in Canada, I expect this list will get a lot longer as we move into Spring 2011.
And if you know of any other Canadian based SUP instructors, post em up in the comments and I’ll add them to the list!

In Edmonton, Alberta, Easy Rider also has demo days/lessons/races, etc. They are really big into SUP. http://www.theeasyrider.com/
Oh, and Stand Up Paddleboard BC (Whistler/Penticton) have a website at http://www.supbc.com
Hi Warwick, thanks for that! I wasn’t sure on Easy Rider as they made no mention of lessons on their site, but I now see they have weekly demos, which I’m sure some people will find useful.
Also clicked yer link and joined your Facebook group for Squamish SUP’ers… Will try to keep up to date through there, but feel free to shoot me any news/events/etc you might want to have featured on the site at https://www.paddlesurf.ca/contact/
Thanks and have a good one!

Gotcha, thanks!
Hi there.
Ocean River Sports has been running SUP courses from our dock side location for 2 years now. Its amazing how it has taken off! We have a full range of Starboard, Laird and Jimmy Styx in our retail department and a broad range of demo baords to use in courses. Every one of our courses this season has been full and we look forward to doing more.
Please submit us as part of the Canadian SUP course suppliers.

Taylor,
I will be travelling to Lake Havasu after the California BOP event to be certified as the first Canadian ” Master” Instructor under the World Standup Paddleboard Association. This designation will allow me to certify ASI Instructors. I have been honoured to have instructed over 150 students across BC this summer in my Intro to SUP Classes. I have been hired by the City of Kamloops to host SUP fit classes in the Canada Games Aquatic Center this winter. Summer 2011 will be the first opportunity for aspiring SUP instructors and shop staff to become certified by the ASI as I will be hosting several clinics throughout western Canada in the spring of 2011……stay tuned!
