Kalamalka Classic SUP Race Recap
|There’s a theory out there that Polynesians were the first to settle the BC coast and are the ancestors of our coastal natives. My addition to that theory would be that the relentless rain and clouds of the coast drove these early people East in hopes of finding the sunnier side of this new island. When they made their way over the mountains and discovered the familiar emerald water, they settled here and named it Kalamalka.
Fast forward to now, the beauty, friendliness and stoke of this place rivals any tropical paradise. The well organized race weekend put on by Kevin and Michelle of Kalavida Surf Shop was one of the best events I’ve ever attended, and Kalamalka Lake is a perfect venue for SUP. I think this could the beginning of the biggest annual Canadian SUP event.
