Hi there,
Welcome to the site!
What sort of weight do you think you'll achieve with this sort of contruction? On the outset it sounds like this will be a pretty heavy board, which may be OK for basic flatwater touring but not all that desireable for more performance oriented touring nor waveriding. Certainly sounds interesting though!
The rough dimensions sound pretty good, assume you're going with a fairly stock outline/template?
Might also want to check out http://www.swaylocks.com, the most in-depth surfboard shaping website anywhere.
Hope that helps and have a good one!

If u get the chance to try to make a 12'6 race board. Hobie has a GREAT design and so does Starboard. Another very popular board in California were the Bark custom boards which i tried and are a very fast board. I am suggesting this because the surf style boards are designed to work mainly on surf and in BC flat water is dominant (with a bit of swell or chop) and the cutting points with the planning ability of those boards are amazing on flat water.
Hope u have a great time shaping the board.
