Hey everyone, just wondered how many people in Ontario have sup's and where they have explored. There are a lot of posts from BC, just wondered who is exploring the endless lakes and rivers in ON.
What a great way to tour the water!

There's a bunch of us! Mainly we paddle Lake ontario and all the different areas that has to offer. I'll bring mine up to the cottage and paddle the lakes in the kawarthas as well.

There was a race last weekend that brought 8/9 of us together for an 8km distance. Was lotsa fun albeit extratough with the heatwave we're experiencing!

Whereabouts are you? If you're local, I can add you to our list!

You can also check out http://www.surfontario.com This company offers tours for those that don't know where to go.

I just started a few months ago and go out mostly on Lake Huron. There are good spots at Grand Bend and also Bayfield. Kincardine is also supposed to be quite good but haven't been up that far yet...

Thanks for the response, thats cool! Most people still look at me funny when I talk about sup, good to know its spreading!

I'm in Wasaga Beach, we have a huge shoreline plus the Nottawasaga river that is always calm, so endless paddling really. Hoping to get some more locals together for a regular tour or just playing around and checking out each others boards and equipment.

Turtlegirl, if you can add me to your list that would be great.

How often do you go out at Wasaga? I live in Toronto and get to Grand Bend once every two or three weeks in the summer. It's tough, cos I leave my board at the cottage; there's nowhere to store it in an apartment building!

Hey VdS, I usually get out about 2-3 times a week, sometimes its just a 1hour paddle in the evening, its a little easier for me as I live and work in Wasaga and have a good schedule that lets me get some free time during the day. What kind of conditions is it usually at Grand Bend?

It all depends: I've had crazy chop and super glass. I didn't even paddle in the chop, just tried surfing my SUP, which was a lot of fun. You're lucky to be so close to the water. Wasaga's a good spot, as well... Any surfing up there?

Hey Beachboy, I'll def add you to the list. And a couple
of us were thinking about paddling up your way; it'd be great to go out with a local!

There's a race in Mississauga on august 8th if anyone's interested. I'll post the details if so. We did a race a couple of weeks ago...8km in the humidity! Surprisingly it was super fun, despite the heat and it brought other SUPers together...all 8 of us, lol.

Turtle Girl, do you know Mike at surf ontario? I took some lessons and bought my board from him? I feel like he probably a part of that race that you guys did earlier this month?

Hey VdS, ya I do know him. We've paddled together a couple of times and yes he was in the race. It's too bad you gotta leave your board up north...there can be some beauty days on lake O. But I can imagine that space is a premium in an condo!

    :)

Nice to see some Ontario action happening on the site... You guys manage to catch some windswell here and there this time of year, or is it mostly flatwater touring?

    Cheers!
