The Tofino Paddle & Surf Championships, a 3-day event in Tofino, B.C., showcases the talented and committed surfers in Canada and beyond. Held on the beautiful beaches of our west coast, the 4th annual event is an integral part of Canada’s SUP and Surf community, and has gained the support of many sponsors, spectators, volunteers, and athletes of all ages and from many different parts of the world. Both accomplished and amateur surfers make this contest and party weekend an annual pilgrimage to the coast to participate and absorb the Surf and SUP culture at its core in an atmosphere of pure stoke and enthusiasm. Since its debut in 2014, the number of participants has almost doubled. Adding a third day of prone surfing competition in the event’s second year has helped to create an environment of mutual respect between all disciplines of surf and has provided an opportunity to bring people together to share their love of riding waves.
The Tofino Paddle & Surf Championships are sanctioned as the official Canadian Surfing Association’s Qualifying Event for representation in the Canadian Team at the annual ISA World SUP Games for both men’s and women’s SUP Surf divisions. The awards banquet, held every year during the event, is a straight-up celebration of all the athletes, sponsors, spectators, and volunteers participating over the weekend.
